چکیده

A case of a slow growing painless swelling of the dorsum of the hand in reported. The swelling was excised along with the corresponding rendon slip. A cortical window was made in the underlying metacarpal and the medullary cavity examined to rule out medullary extension. The histopathology report confirmed the diagnosis as Desmoplastic Fibroma. Desmoplastic fibroma is a rare benign tumor of myofibroblastic origin. It is important to differentiate desmoplastic fibroma from low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma and Desmoid tumours, because they require a more aggressive surgical approach and in the case of sarcomas, might require adjuvant therapies.
